Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory Overview

Intel Optane DC Persistent Memory has two main properties:

  • It is persistent. Data is maintained even when the system power is off.
  • This memory is byte-addressable. Like in regular DRAM, programs can access data structures in place at cache line granularity, avoiding the need to access data in large blocks as it currently happens in traditional I/O.

Persistent memory available modes:

  • Memory Mode

    memory_mode

  • Application Direct (App-Direct) Mode

    app_direct_mode

  • Mixed Mode (combination of the two)
